REVIEW: "Attached to God" by Krispin Mayfield
Many of the same strategies that help us connect with others in our lives can help us connect with our Heavenly Father.
I really enjoyed reading Attached to God: A Practical Guide to Deeper Spiritual Experience by Krispin Mayfield. I first heard about it because my therapist interviewed Mayfield on his podcast. And if my therapist likes him, then I know I will.
If you ever struggle with feeling close to God or just struggle “feeling” something for God, this is for you. Especially if you have religious trauma or guilt, this is a good reminder that “God loves you just the way you are.” I found it very spiritually uplifting since I really haven’t felt close to God in the last year. But now I’m doing something about that. And it starts with examining how my relationship with God often mirrors the ways I relate to others.
And you’ll learn some attachment science in there (Mayfield is a marriage and family therapist) which will really help you diagnose all the childhood trauma that affects you and the people around you.
This book is perfect for those who struggle with “feeling” close to God or who constantly feel like they can never measure up to the life God wants them to live. Before you give up on God, check out this book.
