REVIEW: "Atlas of the Heart" by Brené Brown
You can master your emotions if you first know how to name your emotions.
Okay, you need to read Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience by Brené Brown.
Astounding read! I read the audiobook version, presented by the author herself, and it was performed wonderfully with added side comments. But then I went to a local bookstore and bought the book version because there are just so many good quotes I need to save! This will influence my writing, teaching, and clinical work for years to come.
She walks through 52 emotions, how we feel them, why we feel them, and how we can get in trouble with them. And especially how getting one confused with the other can be due right dangerous.
This book is especially helpful if you struggle with understanding and identifying your emotions. Or if you want to understand the emotions of others. Or if you are a human being. I can’t stress this enough everyone should read this book. I’m actually considering adopting each emotion word into mini lessons to scatter through my sixth-grade curriculum for some good old social-emotional learning.
So many good informational tidbits that it would just take a book to quote it all. So you better just get the book and read it for yourself.
